Doug Brinkley, Police Chief, Sugar Land
Chief Brinkley began his career with the Sugar Land Police Department in January of 2005, as the Assistant Chief of Police in charge of the Support Services Bureau. In October of 2009, Brinkley was promoted to Chief of Police. Before coming to Sugar Land, Chief Brinkley spent 15 years in law enforcement in Michigan, where he worked for the Detroit Police Department and the Grand Rapids Police Department. Brinkley has worked in all areas of law enforcement, including:
- Narcotics
- Patrol
- Special events coordination
- Traffic
- Various supervisory positions
- Vice
Chief Brinkley holds a Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police and the FBI National Academy (class 227).
Chief Brinkley is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, the Texas Police Chiefs Association, and The Exchange Club of Sugar Land.
